May 7th 2018 Prayer Letter Update

Hello everyone! 

First of all we want to thank you for all your prayers and encouragement as we embark on this journey. We just wanted to give you a little update on how things are going as we prepare to head off to Japan in two months! We are getting so excited to visit this amazing country and are anticipating how God will grow and use us in His perfect plan.

Jared and I have been Skyping with the OMF Serve Asia coordinator, each time learning different things about cross-cultural work, how to prepare together and how to grow in our own walk with Christ before we go as well as on the field. These times have been an incredible way to prepare and we so appreciate how OMF equips their workers. We have loved learning about Japan and it's culture, as we read about it, talk with other missionaries and pray for this incredible country we feel blessed that God has provided us with this opportunity. 

We have also had the privilege to converse with the missionaries we are going down to serve, this has been awesome as we can ask questions and start to get to know this lovely family before flying there. They have been such an encouragement to us and we look forward to meeting them in person. 

Some things that are happening in ours lives right now: 

Jared has started his first year of his Electrician Journeymen program at Red  Deer College. 

Lily's dance year has come to an end, praise God the recital went well and it was such a lovely wrap-up to the year. Recently we had the privilege of becoming members at our church, this has been an awesome step we have taken together now that we are a family of our own. We are so thankful for such a supportive church family and for all the friendships that exist there. 

Thank you all so much for how you have poured into our lives and supported us on this adventure! 

We ask that you would continue to join us in prayer for these things: 

~ That God would stir up a revival in Japan!

~ For the missionary family we are going to serve, for peace and rest and also for an ability to serve God to their fullest potential 

~Pray also for their three young boys as they grow up in two cultures, that they would grow in their love and trust in God

~ Pray that the mosquitoes would not  be too terrible in Japan this year as they have been in the past

~ Pray that all of our support would come in or that God would make it clear to us if this is not the time we are meant to go 

~Pray that we would lean on God completely throughout this whole process 

~ Pray that we will stay healthy when we go to Japan and that we would be able to cope with the heat and humidity as this is often a set back for missionaries who go down in July
