Looking Forward to 2020

Dear friends and family,

It is hard to express how grateful we are to you who have followed our journey thus far. We could not do this without the body of Christ supporting and building us up.
We are so excited to inform you—we are going back to Japan!

Before that, an update on our lives
We praise God that Lily passed her final exam and is now a worldwide certified ballet teacher. She continues to teach at Dance Celebration in Three Hills and to work as a casual for Rehoboth Christian Ministries. Jared finished the second year of his electrical apprenticeship last week and we praise God that he passed as well!

We have been serving as youth leaders which has been wonderful, but with church changes coming in the new year, we are not sure how long this will continue. We anticipate serving in some capacity. As Christmas approaches, we look forward to spending time with family and celebrating our Savior’s birth.

And about Japan
Jared has an incredible opportunity to serve with Noble Missions, a Toronto-based construction ministry. The mission is starting Phase 1 of a building project at the Aomori Christian Center, where we served for the last two summers. Yes, the camps have been running, but only a small portion of their facilities is usable because of safety concerns. To address these issues, the mission has a multi-phase rebuilding plan. Once completed, the facility will be used for the camping ministry as well as English classes, student ministry, youth ministry, kids ministry, and lay education.

Jared has been accepted as a laborer, starting in May 2020 and lasting for nine weeks. Noble Missions covers his airfare, a huge blessing, and since we have been accepted to go through OMF, Lily can accompany him. We expect to arrive in Japan on May 7; after the building project, we will stay for the camp season. Altogether, we are in Japan for about three months—from early May to early August. It will be a joy to serve the Elliot’s again at ACC. Lily will help Yuko Elliot prepare meals, care for the staff house, and anything else Yuko needs.

Looking ahead
Our long-term plan: serve full time in Japan. Lord willing, it will take about three to four years to get there. Jared desires to finish his electrical apprenticeship in the next one to two years and we want to attend Bible college. Once we start Bible College we will apply to serve full-time with OMF. Recently the Lord has provided us with the incredible opportunity to start learning Japanese. A lovely lady at our church who grew up in Japan has offered to give us lessons. Although it is not always easy, we are so grateful for this time of learning.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! Please let us know how we can pray for you!

Prayer points
·       that the winter camp season at Aomori Christian Center will go smoothly and that attendees will come to know Jesus personally. Pray also for safety.
·       praise that Lily passed her final exam
·       praise that Jared finished and passed his second year of school
·       pray that we will continue to hold our plans with open hands, ready to follow as the Lord leads

Merry Christmas!
Much love in Christ,

Lily and Jared
