About Japan and How You Can Pray
When you hear of Japan what comes to mind - Anime? Tokyo? Earthquakes? Technology? Cherry Blossoms? Japan has all these things and more.
Japan is a country situated in East Asia, it is an Island nation in the pacific ocean. It has dense cities and mountainous national parks. Japan is home to Mount Fuji and thousands of shrines and temples.

Capital of Japan: Tokyo
Official Language: Japanese
Largest Religion: Buddhist (68.7%)
Professing Christians: 2.2%
Evangelical: 0.58%
We are serving in an OMF guest house 20km from the center of Tokyo in a region called Ichikawa.
Some fun facts:
~ Japan has an average of 3-7 earthquakes daily.
~ Japanese trains are amount the most punctual modes of transportation, their average delay is only 18 seconds.
~ Sumo is Japan's national sport, although baseball is also very popular.
~ Japan has more than 50,000 people who are over the age of 100.
~ Japan has about 5.52 million vending machines.
~ KFC is the typical feast on Christmas Eve.
Japan is a country of wealth and technology, a place with delicious food, beauty and culture, low crime rates and a high level of education. It is rarely viewed as a land with great need. You probably remember in 2011 when Japan was the center on the world's stage because of the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster. Unfortunately the on-going needs are not well known. More die in Japan each year by their own hands, than died during the 2011 disaster. Pressures at work can lead to "karoshi" - death by overwork. In 2014 on average 70 Japanese people committed suicide everyday, this statistic is going down, pray that it would continue to do so. This is a people who desperately need the hope of Christ.

- Pray that God would use the leaders of Japan to bring glory to His name.
- Pray that the Japanese people would recognize their need for Christ.
- Pray that the Japanese people would have opportunities to encounter God as the Creator and the One who gives strength.
- Pray for churches to grow.
- Pray for the Christians there to live out the kingdom of God with their lives.
- Pray that God will send people to start churches where there aren't any.
- Pray for encouragement for the Christians there, that they would be diligent and persevere in evangelism even when it's difficult and slow moving.
- Pray that Japanese people would find hope in Christ.
- Praise God that there are missionaries there working hard for the kingdom!
- Praise God that people are free to share their faith with others without consequence!
